WHAT IS A GHOST?
This documentary presents its' audience with more than mere stories of the supernatural. It allows the viewer the chance to step outside the patterns of daily life and discover that there is more to our existence than our every day routine.
Chicago, Illinois. This city is known as one of the most haunted cities in the world. Professional ghost hunter and local historian: Richard T. Crowe, is the authoritative voice behind the tales of this city's ghosts. Richard has spent almost 30 years researching the history and folklore of locations that are claimed to be haunted around Chicago. We combined his expertise with our investigations. Henry Pena (Founder of the Chicago Ghost Hunters Society) provided us with his collection of video and photographic evidence. We like to refer to his photographs as proof because his images would leave any scientist scratching their head with wonder and desperate for an explanation, but having none at this point in time.
But what is a ghost? We questioned professionals with varying backgrounds of knowledge, such as: a Psychologist, ghost hunters, a Catholic priest, a Native America, a Born-again Christian, a witch, psychics, etc. to get their perspectives.
Our research began with the most famous legend in Chicago. The tale of Resurrection Mary has been around since the 1930s. If you ask anyone in Chicago about her story they are sure to know the details. Mary died in an auto accident. It's suspected that her love of the dance is what brings her back to the Willowbrook Ballroom. Mary seems to have gained a respect that is not apparent in any other ghost story. We wanted to know: Why is her story so popular?, What is it that keeps her here? What is she?
Could Resurrection Mary have left behind energy from her happy dancing days when her emotions ran high? Could a ghost be energy of some sort? It's impossible for us to claim to have any one answer, but we discovered that to find an accurate explanation we had to approach this subject comparatively. One answer might be based on Einstein's theory of energy. "Energy can not be created or destroyed, it can only transfer". If we as humans are made of energy, what happens to our energy when we die? We found many theories but which one is right?
Skeptics believe that ghosts exist only in the realm of imagination, but even the most cynical can't deny that we live in a world that has a great deal of unexplained phenomena.
Bachelor's Grove is possibly one of the most haunted places in the world. If ghosts are simply the products of over- active imaginations, how do we explain the overwhelming photographic evidence we collected from this site? Or, the visual and auditory evidence that has been captured on film and video here?
Could a ghost be a soul with unfinished business that needs to be dealt with before completely leaving? Are the victims of the Eastland tragedy unable to rest until they get proper recognition for the horrible event that ended their lives? According to the employees at a company once used as a temporary morgue for the Eastland victims, this seems to be the explanation for their paranormal experiences. On July 24, 1915, the city of Chicago witnessed a site that some compare to Hell itself. 835 people died when the Eastland capsized at the dock. The most tragic thing about the Eastland disaster is that not many people even know about it. The victims of this tragedy seem to be trying to get the attention of people who work in the buildings that were once used as temporary morgues and remind them of the event that took their lives. The current owners (Oprah Winfrey included) are reluctant to admit that there is anything going on in their buildings, but their employees will tell you differently.
Widow McClearys is located just south of Chicago in Thornton, Illinois. This old brewery was built in the 1800s by a man named John Bielfelt. The building that is now used as a bar and restaurant switched hands many times over the years. Al Capone even played a part in its ownership. The current owners, their patrons, and employees are experiencing some very unusual phenomena. Our cameras caught orbs on every floor.
We experienced the same type of orb activity at our last location called Cavallones West. We discovered that orbs are not the only similarity the two bars share. They also have a common past. Al Capone once owned this bar as well. There are underground tunnels that were once used by bootleggers, they are both next to water, they have limestone foundations, and several other connections. The difference between the two locations is the feeling of dread that Cavallone?s has. Coincidentally, this bar is located directly across the street from the Willowbrook ballroom.
Could it be that ghosts coexist in this world of reality? There are few among us who have not had an experience with the paranormal. Could a ghost be a perfectly natural part of life that we just haven't come to understand? If we are still experiencing ghosts in the 21st century, we must examine the probability that ghosts are more than just legends.
I guarantee you have not seen a video about ghosts like this one! If you are interested in the supernatural, you will appreciate the realistic approach in this documentary.
This is a must have for ghost hunters!
